Congratulations, Silence Breakers

You who have reason to be ashamed, be afraid. We’ve had enough. From the time many of us were little girls, you’ve groomed, creeped, frightened, silenced, trapped, humiliated, shamed, groped, grabbed, hit, raped, and killed us – all the while quoting your sacred texts and your political dogmas.

We’ve had enough.

You’ve made our workplaces, our schools, our churches, our parks, our running paths, our sidewalks, even our own homes daily minefields of danger, fear, and humiliation. For hundreds of years, your small, pompous minds worked overtime devising brutal ways to define our reality for us, to try and force us to believe that we exist for you, that “girls are for sex,” that we don’t have a right to take up space in this world on our own merit.

We’ve had enough.

I’m not sorry for you. You’ve lost the careers you built on the abused bodies and minds of the women you violated.

Did you think we were marching for fun? Did you think our pink hats were just a dress-up play?

Women aren’t coming for you; the monsters of your own making are reckoning with you. The glass ceilings you built with your own, tiny, grabby hands are crumbling, about to collapse on you in a final moment of irony.

We no longer carry your shame, you do. And you well deserve it.
